The Hudson Valley’s sons Debris of Titan shine yet again with their visceral and raucous live release. (9.7)
“Psych Rock is alive and well.” This is the first sentence that ran through my mind as I listed to Debris of Titan’s live release. A sweltering and steamy 40 minute haze of hard rock and irresistible riffs, Boulevard USA combines the wild and weird and touches on everything in between. Hunkering down in the acid soaked corridors where only the 13th Floor Elevators, Barrett-era Pink Floyd and Shy Boyz have ever dared go, Debris of Titan stand out as a truly unique, fun, wild and exciting example of just how good Psych Rock can be.
While the recording location is never mentioned, it’s almost better that way. The experience of listening to Boulevard USA is roughly comparable to seeing a live show inside your own mind as you are just entering a nightmarish acid trip–and I do mean this in the best way. Debris of Titan represent Psych Rock at its best, and I can’t wait to hear what they do next.
This album is definitely album of the year material for me, although it was released in 2018. Let’s hope the Debris boys put out more great rock in 2019 and beyond.
